Invited Speakers
The following Keynote Speakers have been invited to present at ISRSE-34 (not all are confirmed)
José Achache is Executive Director of GEO.
He graduated from Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris, obtained a doctorate in geophysics at Pierre et Marie Curie University and a doctorate in physical sciences at René Descartes University. He was Visiting Scholar at Stanford University.
He was successively Professor at Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris, Director for R&D of the French Geological Survey (BRGM), Deputy Director General of CNES and Director of Earth Observation of ESA.
José Achache is the architect of Gmes. He has published 70 refereed articles on geomagnetism, paleomagnetism, geophysical imaging, planetary sciences, space observations, natural hazards and an essay on Earth Observation: Les Sentinelles de la Terre.
The Space Policy Unit co-ordinates Australia's national and international space activities, delivers the Australian Space Research program and is developing a national space policy for Australia.
Michele has worked for the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research since 2003 undertaking both program delivery and policy roles. Prior to joining the Space Policy Unit, in July 2009, Michele managed the Department's budget process involving the securing of federal funding for a number of new programs and initiatives.
Michele has a background in banking and finance, particularly investment in small technology and bio-technology businesses.
Michele holds a Masters in Business Administration.

Dr Alex Held is a Team Leader of the Terrestrial Remote Sensing Group at the CSIRO Division of Marine and Atmospheric Research, and the Director of the newly established "AusCover" Remote Sensing Data Facility of the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network - TERN. He has a PhD in plant physiology from UCDavis, and his major scientific interests lie in linking of remote sensing information and vegetation responses to stress and climate variability.
He has served as the Head of the CSIRO Office of Space Science and Applications from 2004 to2007. He represents CSIRO on the international Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS), and Australian delegate to Group on Earth Observation, including co-lead of the GEO task on Forest Carbon tracking. Dr. Held is a member of the Australian Academy of Science's National Committee on Space Science, and a special technical advisor to the Australian Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency's International Forest Carbon Initiative program.
